Celebrating the Class of 2023

Our School has demonstrated 130 years of excellence in girls’ education. As a community, we are so very proud of each and every Grammarian of the Class of 2023 for the hard work and determination they demonstrated throughout their VCE studies in 2022 and 2023.

Class of 2023 VCE Results

We are pleased to present the VCE Results of the Class of 2023.

The admirable results we share here reflect the strength and depth of the Class of 2023. They are a cohort of high achievers across a number of academic disciplines, alongside their high engagement and excellence in the co-curricular opportunities offered by the School.

We celebrate the accomplishments of each student and acknowledge that success looks different to for everyone. For many of our Grammarians, their ATAR has enabled them to take the next step towards their future careers and the realisation of their dreams. We are thrilled to share that 37% of the cohort earned scores in the top 10% of the state, with ATARs of 90 or above. The diversity of our VCE offerings and the strengths of our Grammarians can be seen in the study scores of over 45 or higher in 17 different areas.

The Class of 2023 undoubtedly left big shoes to fill. They led the School last year with energy, kindness and vivid engagement in all that they did. They left us with much more than their academic achievements, but a well-rounded education full of opportunities that they have grasped onto with both hands. They have pushed boundaries, chased excellence and achieved greatness together.

Completing VCE is a big milestone for all students and with their results, the Class of 2023 demonstrated the true benefits of a holistic MGGS education.

We congratulate these now 'Old' Grammarians, who have now begun to embark on their next chapters with the tools and knowledge to make a difference in the lives they choose to lead.

Class of 2023 Tertiary Pathways

At the beginning of the year, the graduates of the Class of 2023 received their university offers. We are happy to share the tertiary destinations and areas of study our most recent graduates have selected, with our community.

The Class of 2023 have chosen to undertake a range of pathways as they explore the world beyond our red brick walls. The breadth and depth of learning experiences at VCE level at MGGS has placed them in an optimal position to extend their education. Their MGGS experience has not only enabled their future pathway for study, but facilitated the development of the whole self, equipping them with the requisite skills to succeed at university. They continue their engagement in learning and interest in diverse areas of study at tertiary level, leading to new challenges and opportunities to gain knowledge, lead and excel.

Our Class of 2023 graduates gained offers for this academic year that demonstrated their commitment to excellence. They pursued pathways which will enable them to continue learning at the highest level.

"... this cohort of students challenged boundaries and were unique in their approach...I am positive that this commitment to learning will continue during their university studies and beyond." – Principal Dr Toni E. Meath

These offers reflect the breadth of interests of our Class of 2023, and the diverse career pathways that they are set to embark on. There are 10 fields represented, and for the first time, our graduates have received an equal number of offers within the Sciences and the Arts, representing 48% (24% for each discipline) of the cohort’s offers. One of the benefit of girls’ education is the capacity for students to elect studies for which they have an interest and passion. Their choices are a reflection of their genuine interests and academic capabilities and are without conformity to preconceived gender stereotypes.
